AIM AND PURPOSE
The aim of the development plan for Bötombergen is to develop the future activities of the area according to a strategically made plan. It has to appear clearly from the plan what measures must be taken in the area during a given number of years.The aim of the development plan for Bötombergen is to develop the future activities of the area according to a strategically made plan. The purpose is to get a functional area where the visitors can participate in:  -          activities that suit the whole family
-         
activities that give nature experience
-         
activities that give people of today  a view of the life during the cave  dwellers’ epoch
-    activities in all year round sports

LONG-TERM ACTIVITY
The purpose is to plan an activity that in a long view will be self-supporting and economically profitable. This is done by developing Bötombergen  to a place that is widely known for its special nature, history, culture and sports facilities all year round. The aim of the long-term activity is also to have a regional - Nordic and international function.  This is realized by developing opportunities for different events and competitions partly in winter sport and partly by investing in tourism.

REALIZATION
A project leader is employed to draw up a tangible development plan for Bötombergen. The plan is to include proposals for measures to be taken to make the area attractive for visitors.

The realization is carried out according to the following proposal modules:

1. Product development / package solutions
Product development for different alternative package solutions including also the  supply of service and  tourist experiences in the immediate surroundings (Southern Ostrobothnia, Ostrobothnia)

2.
Strategy for marketing of the area 
A strategy is to be developed for extensive long-term marketing of Bötombergen (in Finland and abroad).

3.
Planning of the area
The area has to be planned from an overall perspective.
The different parts consisting of nature, history, culture, sports activities and construction of facilities, accommodation (small houses) etc. have to be co-ordinated to a development plan where all these parts are taken into consideration in a balanced and environment adapted way.

4.
Search for further development possibilities by different EU programs
For further development of Bötombergen more project means will be needed to realize the different parts. An active follow up of different EU programs and proposals for new project plans have to be made.

5.
A Training for guides is being planned
Guides with a good knowledge of languages, competence and knowledge of the nature, history and culture etc. of Bötombergen have to be trained to serve and take care of the visitors.

6. Building up / creating a permanent organization for Bötombergen.

TIMETABLE
The project started 1.11.2001 and continues until 15.3.2003.


MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATION

The municipality of Kristinestad is the owner of the project.
The project is realized by means of consulting services. The realization of the project requires special knowledge and -competence for which reason using a consult is considered necessary.

A leading group consisting of the chairman Sven Söderlund, Carina Storhannus (Pomo+), Dan-Anders Sjöqvist, Antti Pihlaja, Bo-Göran Lindh and Ulf Grindgärds (LAG). The purpose of the leading group is to control the realization of the project and to follow up the work

The project The world of the Wolf Cave
The project The World of the Wolf Cave is financed by Leader + and the project owner is Karijoen Tappara Ry. The project started in May 2002 and it continues until summer 2003. The principal aim of the project is to promote the Tourism of the Wolf Cave. The most important realization is the new exhibition of the Tourist Center.
